The short version: Word Climb collects no personal data. There are no ads, analytics, accounts, tracking SDKs or in-app purchases. Your progress, settings and custom words are stored locally and never sent to us.
This policy applies to the Word Climb mobile game (Android and iOS) and to the Word Climb website. The data controller is Milos Jankovic, an independent developer. Contact details are at the bottom of this page.
If a future version adds an online feature, this policy will be updated before that version is released. The app has no online features today.
1. Data we collect
We collect no personal data. Specifically:
- No name, email address, phone number or postal address.
- No account, sign-in or user identifier.
- No location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone access.
- No advertising identifier or cross-app tracking.
- No analytics, crash reporting or behavioural profiling.
- No payment information. The game has no in-app purchases.
Google Play Data safety summary: no data collected, no data shared, no data processed off-device. Because there is no account, there is nothing to sign in to and no server-side profile to delete.
2. Data stored on your device
The app stores a small amount of information locally so it can
remember your choices between sessions. On Android this uses
SharedPreferences; on iOS it uses
UserDefaults.
| Stored locally | Why |
|---|---|
| Selected language level and character | Restores your preferences at launch. |
| Music and sound-effect volume, mute and haptics | Keeps audio and feedback settings consistent. |
| Control-mode choice | Remembers whether you use tap, joystick, two-thumb or keyboard controls. |
| Custom word list | Lets you play with vocabulary you typed or pasted. |
| One unfinished climb | Lets you continue from the same word, score, lives and correction state. |
This information stays on your device. It is not transmitted to us or to any third party, and we cannot see it. Deleting the app removes it; on Android you can also clear the app's storage in system settings.
3. Android system backup
If you have Android system backup enabled, the operating system may include the local app data described above in your own Google account backup. That backup is controlled by your device settings and Google account, not by us. We do not receive a copy of it.
On iOS, app data can be included in an iCloud or device backup if you have enabled those backups. Apple controls that process.
4. Network access and permissions
The release Android app does not request the INTERNET permission. The iOS app does not make network requests. Vocabulary, audio, art and progress are bundled or stored locally.
The app does not request location, camera, microphone, contacts, notifications, advertising ID or tracking permission. A local debug build made by a developer may request internet access for Flutter's development tooling; that permission is not present in the release build.
5. Third-party services
There are none. The app does not use Google Play Services, Firebase, Crashlytics, advertising networks, social plugins, cloud sync or any other remote service. The only platform involvement is the normal app store installation and operating-system backup described above.
6. Children
Word Climb is suitable for a general audience, including children. It collects no personal information from anyone. There are no ads, no purchases, no chat, no external links inside the app and no user-generated content shared with others. The custom word list is stored only on the device where it was entered.
7. Your choices and data deletion
You are in control of the local data. There is no account to delete and no server copy. You can remove data in any of these ways:
- Custom words only: open My words in the app and choose Delete all words.
- All app data on Android: open Android Settings → Apps → Word Climb → Storage → Clear data (wording varies by device).
- All app data on iOS: delete the app, or use iOS Settings → General → iPhone Storage → Word Climb → Delete App. This also removes saved settings and the unfinished climb.
- Stop being remembered: simply uninstall the app. No request to us is needed.
A complete deletion guide with screenshots is on the support page.
8. This website
This website is a static site hosted by GitHub Pages. It does not set cookies, load remote fonts, include analytics or embed third-party media. All images and fonts are served from this domain.
Like any web host, GitHub may process technical request data such as IP addresses and browser headers in its server logs in order to deliver and secure the site. That processing is described by GitHub's own privacy statement; we do not receive or use those logs for advertising or profiling.
If you email us, we receive your email address and the content of your message and use them only to answer you. Do not send sensitive information. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to resolve the request.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if the app changes, for example if a future release adds an optional online feature. The effective date at the top of this page will change and, for material changes, the app store listing or the app itself will point to the updated policy. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
